🌸 Spring (Mar-May)

Perfect season. Peach blossoms around West Lake, tea picking season, pleasant temperatures throughout.

☀️ Summer (Jun-Aug)

Hot and humid (35°C+). Plum rains in June. Lotus flowers on West Lake are beautiful. Escape to mountain resorts.

🍂 Autumn (Sep-Nov)

Ideal weather. Clear skies, comfortable temps. Full moon over West Lake is legendary in autumn.

❄️ Winter (Dec-Feb)

Cold (0-8°C) but West Lake's snowy scenery is poetic. Fewer crowds, lower prices.

  • Hangzhou Metro: 12+ lines covering West Lake, city center, and suburbs. Modern and efficient.

  • West Lake Circuit: Rent a bike to circle West Lake — about 15km. Stop at Leifeng Pagoda for panoramic views.
  • Tea Experience: Visit Longjing Village in March-April for tea picking. Buy directly from farmers for authentic tea.
  • Wuzhen Overnight: Stay inside Wuzhen's scenic area to experience the water town after day-trippers leave.
  • Lingyin Early: Arrive at Lingyin Temple before 7AM to experience morning chanting and avoid crowds.
  • Food Guide: Try Dongpo pork, West Lake vinegar fish, and Longjing shrimp at restaurants near West Lake.
  • Qiantang Tide: Best viewed on the 18th day of the 8th lunar month (usually September/October).
