Best Time to Visit

🌸 Spring (Mar-May)

BEST season. Wuyuan's rapeseed flowers peak in mid-to-late March. Pleasant temperatures everywhere.

☀️ Summer (Jun-Aug)

Hot and humid (35°C+). Lushan offers cool mountain retreat. Poyang Lake is at its fullest.

🍂 Autumn (Sep-Nov)

Excellent weather. Autumn colors in Wuyuan and Lushan. Migratory birds arrive at Poyang Lake from October.

❄️ Winter (Dec-Feb)

Cold (0-5°C). Poyang Lake hosts 700,000+ migratory birds including rare Siberian cranes.

Getting Around Jiangxi Province

✈️ By Air

  • Main Airport: Nanchang Changbei (KHN). Jingdezhen has a small airport. Most visitors arrive by train.

🚄 By Train

  • High-Speed Rail: Nanchang to Shanghai (3.5h), Changsha (1.5h), Wuhan (2h), Xiamen (3.5h). Growing HSR network.

🚌 By Bus

  • Local Buses: Buses connect Nanchang to Lushan (1.5h). Wuyuan is accessible from Jingdezhen or Shangrao by bus.
  • Scenic Routes: Tourist buses to major attractions are available.

🚗 By Car

  • Self-Driving: Wuyuan is best explored by car — the scenic drives between villages are part of the experience.
  • Roads: Good highway network connecting major cities.

  • Wuyuan Timing: Mid-to-late March is peak rapeseed bloom. Book accommodation months ahead — it's extremely popular.
  • Lushan Duration: Allow 2 days minimum on Lushan. Stay overnight to see the sunrise from Hanyangkou peak.
  • Jingdezhen Workshop: Try a pottery workshop — make your own porcelain with 1,700-year-old techniques.
  • Wuyuan by Car: Rent a car to explore the eastern and northern village routes at your own pace.
  • Bird Watching: Poyang Lake in December-February is world-class for birding. Bring binoculars and telephoto lens.
  • Spicy Warning: Jiangxi food is seriously spicy — even more than neighboring provinces. Pace yourself.
